Women’s Soccer Trounces Mount Saint Vincent, 7-0, on Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Donning their teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness jerseys, the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (10-4-0, 5-0-0 Skyline) shut out the College of Mount Saint Vincent (8-6-0, 2-3-0 Skyline), 7-0, Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Field.

The Knights were led by sophomore forward Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, N.Y.), who picked up a hat trick with three goals to push her season total to 16. Senior midfielder Brigit Burgio (Riverhead, N.Y.) scored the game winner for the Knights at the 15:57 mark. She also added an assist in the win.

Junior midfielder Michelle Sabogal (Forest Hills, N.Y.), junior midfielder Meghan Moran (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Nicole Gianotti (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) each added a goal in Sunday's win. Senior defender Tara McDermott (Tewksbury, N.J.), junior midfielder Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.), freshman defender Elizabeth Cipriano (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior defender Jordyn Catapano (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) each dished out an assist.

Senior goalkeeper Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) took the victory on Sunday, but did not need to make a save in over 19 minutes of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Abigail McQuillen (Greenville, N.Y.) played over 70 minutes in net and made one save. Kelly Hilly shouldered the loss for the Dolphins, allowing five goals while making nine saves.

The Knights fired off 35 shots on the afternoon to just one for the Dolphins. They also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Knights return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when they travel to Bard College for a non-conference matchup. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
