Eric Seideman

Head coach Eric Seideman completed his 10th season as the head coach of the men's lacrosse program in 2021. He also serves as the department's NCAA Compliance Officer.

Over 10 seasons at the helm of the Knights’ program, Seideman has mentored the team to the most successful stretch in its young history. Seideman has won 60 games while on the sidelines in Newburgh and has recorded the program’s only two 10-plus win seasons. He set a single season record for wins with 10 in 2016 and then broke that mark with 12 wins in 2018, guiding the Mount to its first ever appearance in the Skyline Conference Championship Final.

With team success, comes individual accolades, which have reached new heights over the past five seasons. Seideman helped develop Dylan De Meo into a three-time First Team All-Skyline Conference performer, including a Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year citation in 2017. De Meo holds the only 100-point season for the Knights and is the only player in program history to reach 300 career points.

Danny Kugler and Christopher Doerr also find themselves atop the career record boards for the Knights, with Kugler posting a program record 174 goals, totaling 204 points in his career, and Doerr setting the standard in the cage with saves with 671 and wins with 32.

Following the 2017 season, De Meo went on to be named the program’s first All-American, earning USILA/Nike Honorable Mention honors and wad tabbed a Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse in 2018. Kugler represented the Knights in the USILA Senior All-Star game in 2018, a year that saw the Mount garner a program record five All-Skyline Conference selections.

Most recently, defender Matthew Martino was named All-Skyline Conference three times (2018, 2019, 2021), including two first team citations and joined De Meo as the only All-Americans in program history when he was tabbed an Honorable Mention All-American in 2021. Also a standout off the field, Martino earned Academic All-American honors from the USILA following the 2021 campaign.

Prior to the Mount, Seideman, a native of Barre, Vermont, spent two years as an assistant coach at Gettysburg College, helping the Bullets to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament.  Gettysburg was 27-10 during Seideman’s two years with the program and also spent time as the top ranked team in the country.

Before his time at Gettysburg, Seideman was an assistant coach at Ithaca College for two years as the Bombers went 31-5 and reached the 2008 NCAA Division III Final Four.  He was also on staff at SUNY Cortland for a Division III National Championship in 2006 and a Division III National Runner Up in 2007.  The Red Dragons were 33-9 overall during Seideman’s two season with the program.  Seideman’s career started at Vassar College, where he was the assistant coach for both men’s lacrosse and women’s soccer from 2004 to 2005.

As an undergraduate at Haverford College, Seideman was a four-year starter for the men’s lacrosse team from 2000 to 2004.  A three-time team MVP, Seideman was twice named All-Centennial Conference.  He graduated with the school record in career scoring for a midfielder.

Seideman graduated from Haverford in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in English.  He also holds a master’s degree in education, earned from Cornell University in 2011.

Seideman currently resides in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. with his wife Melissa and their two sons Benjamin and Finn.
