Chris McHugh has recently completed his second season as an assistant coach with the Mount Saint Mary College men’s basketball program. A one-time player under Ryan Kadlubowski, McHugh will continue to help the Knights with recruiting, on-court coaching, and player development.

Paired with Kadlubowski, McHugh has been an integral part of the program’s turnaround. The Knights were 19-9 during the 2010-11 season, the best mark for the program since 2005-06. The team posted a record of 16-4 against the Skyline Conference, finishing in a tie for second and claiming the second seed in the conference tournament. Mount Saint Mary would also earn a selection to the ECAC Metro Region Tournament.

McHugh was vital to the recruiting effort for the Class of 2014. One of the program’s recruits, freshman guard Joe Stabach, led the team in scoring and was named the Skyline Conference and ECAC Metro Region Rookie of the Year. Stabach also earned a spot on the all-conference second team.

Prior to his arrival at Mount Saint Mary, McHugh was a four-year letter winner for the men’s basketball program at Washington & Lee University. McHugh was the team captain as a senior and helped lead the Generals to increasing win totals in each of his four years.

McHugh graduated from Washington & Lee in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in politics.

Originally from Chatham, New Jersey, McHugh now resides in Newburgh.
