Women Claim Skyline Title, Men Finish Third

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College women's swimming team claimed the Skyline Conference championship on Saturday, edging St. Joseph's College and Purchase College to collect the team's third championship in the last five years.  The Mount men finished third behind Maritime College and SUNY College at Old Westbury.

The women amassed 115 points, outpacing second-place St. Joseph's (96 points) and third-place Purchase (64 points).  The men finished with 43 points, trailing Maritime (170 points) and Old  Westbury (69).

Senior Censi Danner (Saugerties, N.Y.) won all three of her individual events and was named the Skyline Conference Swimmer of the Year.  Danner was the Skyline champion in the 50 freestyle (25.79), the 100 freestyle (57.74) and the 200 individual medley (2:21.27).  Her time in the 200 IM was a new MSMC school record.

Freshman Meghan Seaman (Staten Island, N.Y.) won two individual events and finished second in her third event and was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.  Seaman was the champ in the 200 freestyle (2:11.13) and the 1,000 freestyle (12:15.07).  She finished second in the 100 freestyle (1:00.76).

Sophomore Allison Wyatt (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) captured both of the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast in 1:10.94 and the 200 breast in 2:37.68.  Her time in the 200 breaststroke set a new Skyline meet record.  The Knights also claimed the conference title in the 400 freestyle relay.  The team of Seaman, Wyatt, junior Brianna Perazella (Cheshire, Conn.), and Danner set a new meet record of 4:00.36.

Perazella tacked on second place finishes in the 100 backstroke (1:08.30) and the 200 backstroke (2:26.48).  Sophomore Deirdre Kenny (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also recorded a second place finish as the Knights went one-two in the 1000 freestyle.  Kenny's time was 12:16.38, less than two seconds slower than Seaman.

On the men's side, senior Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.) nailed down a pair of individual titles, touching first in the 200 freestyle (1:52.08) in the 200 backstroke (2:05.69).  Naudy also finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.65.

The Knights also earned a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.  Sophomore Mark Bohlinger (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), freshman Ryan Murray (Long Beach, N.Y.), and sophomore Conor Dowd (Massapequa, N.Y.) teamed with Naudy for a team of 3:30.75.

To top off the meet, both the men's team and the women's team were honored with the Skyline Conference team sportsmanship award.

The teams will compete again in two weeks at the Metropolitan Conference Championships.  The meet begins on Friday, February 17.
