POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – In their season debut, the Mount Saint Mary College women's cross country team performed well at the Vassar College Invitational, placing third out of the ten teams present. The men's team finished sixth out of twelve.
On the women's side, freshman
Nicole Zazzero (Brewster, N.Y.) finished 25th overall and was the top finisher for the Knights with a time of 21:42. Fellow freshman,
Rachel Sleeter (Hyde Park, N.Y.), finished in a time of 21:56, which earned her 29th place. Junior
Cassandra Gucciardo (Levittown, N.Y.) placed 33rd overall, clocking in at 22:12. A group of freshman performed well for the Knights including: Victoria Wresilo (Shelton, Conn.),
Ashley Maurer (Stormville, Conn.), Jennifer Angilieri (Bay Shore, N.Y.), and Jessica Cowell (Shelton, Conn.).
A very young roster proved to be successful for the men's team at the Vassar College Invitational. Freshman
Ian Brink (Wallkill, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Mount, clocking in at 22:43 which earned him 35th place. Following Brink in the 38th position was classmate
Scott Colello (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) in 22:51. Another freshman,
Mike Paris (Warwick, N.Y.), rounded out the top three for the Knights with a time of 23:23, which put him in the 45th position overall.
Mount Saint Mary College will compete next Sunday at Purchase College.
